4 Ways to Get the Most out of Your Air Conditioner

If you’re anything like us, you’re probably constantly searching for other possible ways to stay cool without roasting your air conditioner, because well, for one, it doesn’t exactly have a positive effect on your monthly electricity bill.

But if you find yourself in need of blasting your air conditioner, it could mean that your aircon isn’t in peak condition, or that your AC unit isn’t the right fit for your room.  Worry not, however, it’s not all doom and gloom because here’s how you can get the best out of your AC.

1. Routine Aircon maintenance

The first step of getting the best of your AC unit is to conduct routine aircon maintenance, because splashing on a new, shiny and expensive aircon unit will matter very little if it’s poorly maintained. On top of that, the dust buildup in your filters are also hazardous to your health.Ensure that your filters are clean and not clogged to promote smooth airflow, as this also increases your aircon efficiency by up to 15%. Don’t forget to also clean your cooling fins and rotary blade to prevent a sticky mixture of dirt and water buildup in your aircon.

2. Install an inverter aircon

Compared to a non-inverter aircon, an inverter aircon provides far greater energy efficiency as you can expect up to 30% of energy savings. In short, inverter aircon is the way to go if you want to trim your energy bills.

If your problem doesn’t concern an inverter unit, it could be a sign that your aircon is too old and you need to replace it with a newer unit.  Enlist the help of our highly recommended aircon specialist as they can help you install your aircon unit seamlessly.

3. Proper AC size and horsepower

Another factor that can improve your air-con efficiency that you’re not highly aware of, is the size and horsepower of your aircon. The general rule of thumb is that a higher horsepower aircon can cool the room faster. In other words, the bigger the room, the more horsepower is recommended. Generally, you’ll want to be looking between 1.5 – 2 horsepower.

Also, don’t forget to look at the energy star ratings of your aircon as the stars indicate the energy efficiency. Having said that, however, it’s also highly dependent on other factors, such as the amount of heat the room is exposed too, so it’s best to seek help from a professional aircon installer for the right aircon installation.

4. Use your aircon one at a time

It’s better to turn on one aircon and have a cool room than it is to turn on several aircons that don’t have the same cooling effect. Not only will you feel cooler, but you’ll also be using your aircon more efficiently. Finally, don’t forget to keep the doors close so that cool air can’t escape.
