Electric mountain bikes (eMTB) are the latest trends and more and more companies are slowly building more of these type of bikes. Let me first to correct you that using an eMTB isn’t cheating and it serves a very good purpose to different people with different needs.
Still, I got my first taste of an eMTB during Specialized Malaysia’s demo earlier this year in Putrajaya and thanks to that, I am hooked. As my piggy bank (which was recently emptied to purchase a YT Capra) slowly grows, Specialized has updated their range of the Turbo Levo eMTB with new specs and also a new frame. Here is the 2019 Specialized Turbo Levo.
Watch the video below to get a good grasp of what the new changes are like.
Compared to the 2018 model, the new Turbo Levos have a higher RRP pricing which brings the highest model to more than RM50,000 in Malaysia. Definitely out of range for some folks but with better discounts and hopefully a better price strategy, there is a small but growing market out there. You can see Bukit Kiara and Putrajaya Challenge Park be filled with more eMTB as well. I have seen a group of riders on the Turbo Levos as well as DJ from 2Escape bikes who regularly bring Turbo Kenevo owners to various locations as well.
I definitely can’t wait to get myself one so that I can ride more trails during the short time I have during the weekends. To me, time is a commodity which is extremely precious and having an eMTB to enjoy the trails a lot more during the short 2-3 hours I have during the weekends is crucial. With an eMTB, I definitely get to double the trail time I have which will again help me train up and improve my skills. Don’t believe it when someone says that riders who ride an eMTB don’t get a workout. Ask them to try it out for themselves and believe it.
