I always remembered going to Yellow Brick Road back when it was at Jalan Batai. It was walking distance away from my office at the time and although it took some convincing to get my colleagues to follow me, we always had a great time there. Now, Yellow Brick Road has moved on nearby and they are now at The Five. You can’t miss it, as it is conveniently located directly outside of the Jalan Semantan MRT station.
I took my family there for dinner and since my son wanted to ride the MRT train, we hopped onto one from the Bandar Utama MRT station and took the train towards The Five. After a short ride, we arrived and facing the MRT station was Yellow Brick Road. Upon reaching, we got our seats immediately and started ordering our food.
My son wanted his chippies so we ordered a bowl of truffle fries which came with a side of aioli. It was so good that my son made us not touch his fries.
Being a very picky eater, my son still completely finished his pasta. It was really good, creamy and balanced without being overpowered by black pepper that my son ate it all without any complaints.
I ordered the salmon pasta as I wanted to try something different. It did not disappoint as I enjoyed the cured salmon slices together with the creamy pasta. Also the addition of tobiko or salmon roe made the texture interesting as well.
My mom ordered a caesar salad with grilled chicken which was huge! We all could have a taste and bite of it as she couldn’t finish the entire salad.
My dad opted for the grilled chicken which was grilled to perfection. It came with a side of grilled white corn which was lovely as well.
My sister ordered a creamy pesto spaghetti which came with both grilled white corn and crushed pistachios.
After our mains, we had gotten a couple of desserts to be shared amongst the family.
The tiramisu was just perfect, not too sweet and not too bitter with the right balance through and trough. To top it all off, you have the Brazil espresso mascarpone cream sauce to pour all over it. I could eat this again and again.
I also couldn’t say no to a burnt cheesecake, which is my usual staple dessert when eating out.
Conclusion
Overall, the service was great; the ambience was fantastic and getting there was very convenient. Would I return? Yes, and I would probably come earlier in the day to try out their brunch menu as well. This time around, I chose a time to avoid the usual brunch and Instagram crowd only to be pleasantly surprised as well.
